Meghan Markle’s Dad Says She & Prince Harry Are Turning Royal Family ‘Into A Walmart With A Crown On It’ Amid Their Exit
Meghan Markle’s dad has lots to say about his daughter and her husband Prince Harry stepping back from their senior roles in the royal family… and it wasn’t nice.
Thomas Markle sat down with Channel 5 for the forthcoming documentary “Thomas Markle: My Story”, filmed from his home in Mexico, and got very candid about Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s shocking decision.
“It’s disappointing to me because she actually got every girl’s dream. Every young girl wanted to become a princess and she got that. Now she’s tossing that away for money…apparently $3 million and a 26-bedroom home isn’t enough for them.
He added,
“It’s kind of embarassing to me…When they got married they took on an obligation, and the obligation is to be part of the royals and to represent the royals. It would be foolish of them not to.”
He also threw in a Walmart comparison.
This is one of the greatest long-living institutions ever. They are destroying it, they are cheapening it, making it shabby, they’re turning it into a Walmart with a crown on it. It’s something that’s ridiculous. They shouldn’t be doing this.”
As for his estranged relationship with Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry in 2018, he said he’s not expecting her to reach out to him anytime soon.
“I can’t see her reaching out to me, especially now. In light of what I’m saying now she probably won’t. Or Harry for that matter. I think both of them are turning into lost souls at this point. I don’t know what they’re looking for. I don’t think they know what they’re looking for.”
His statements are over a year after Thomas Markle revealed a private letter his daughter wrote him.
She allegedly wrote:
“All I want to do is make you proud… and I promise, no matter what, I’ll do it. I love you to no end.”
Still, he added that he had been iced out of the royal family.
“I have been frozen out and I can’t stay silent…I have made dozens of attempts to reach my daughter via text and letters, but she and Harry have put up a wall of silence. They have done what they once told me not to do – they are believing everything negative that has been written about me. So I am reaching out to them, once again, to try to correct the lies and get the truth out there.”
“Everyone says, ‘Why don’t I just shut the f*** up?’ That ‘Meghan can’t speak to me because I’ll give away secrets.’ But that’s bull****…I’ve pleaded with her to pick up the phone. I wrote her a two-page letter and sent it by certified mail via her representative in Los Angeles. I asked her why she was believing the lies. I also pointed out the Royals haven’t always been perfectly behaved. I wrote that I’ve never played pool naked, nor have I dressed up as a Nazi.”
“I’ve been accused of every terrible thing you can think of. In one magazine they had an awful story about Prince Charles right beside one about me. But no one is shunning Prince Charles.”
