Former First Lady Michelle Obama continues to spread her influence to the youth of tomorrow. In a twitter post on April 17, she teamed up with television network PBS Kids for a new series called “Mondays with Michelle Obama”. In the series she reads 4 of her favorite children’s books (one book per week). In the twitter post Michelle Obama wrote,
“I’m thrilled to share some of my favorite children’s books and give kids an opportunity to practice their reading (while giving families a much-needed break!). Join me, @PBSKIDS, and @penguinrandomfor read-alongs on Mondays at 12pm ET on @PBSKIDS Facebook and YouTube!”
The last time we heard from Michelle Obama, she and actress Kerry Washington encouraged the public to look out for items with WIC labels at the supermarket. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal assistance program of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for healthcare and nutrition of low-income pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children under the age of five. Because supplies are scarce during the current pandemic, Michelle and Kerry Washington wanted to make sure that low income mothers were able to have enough supplies to feed their children.

During the current coronavirus pandemic, Michelle and Former President Barack Obama have been getting their rest together by quarantining and chilling. She received a call from talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and when asked how she and Barack Obama have been spending their quarantine, Michelle said,
“Everybody’s home. The girls are back… they’re off in their respective rooms doing their online classes. I think Barack is… I don’t know where he is. He was on the phone… We’re just trying to keep a routine going, but we also got a little Netflix and chill happening.”

We’re glad to see that Michelle continues to influence the next generation in a positive way by keeping the kids engaged and learning during the pandemic.
