Cynthia Bailey Auditioned For Classic Movie ‘The Five Heartbeats’ When She Was 22 [WATCH]
Before she became a supermodel and a peach holder on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Cynthia Bailey had aspirations to star on Robert Townsend’s classic film The Five Heartbeats.
The 1991 movie tells the classic rags-to-riches story about a fictitious R&B group. through the eyes of one of the Heartbeats, Donald “Duck” Matthews (played by Robert Townsend).
Robert Townsend recently released a documentary about his quest to get the film made called the ‘Making The Five Heartbeats’. The film is available now on all streaming services. ‘Making The Five Heartbeats’ provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creation of this beloved classic. To the surprise of many, Robert Townsend posted a never-before-seen clip of Cynthia Bailey’s audition tape. He wrote in the caption:
“Did you know star of the @Atlanta_housewives @CynthiaBailey10 auditioned for the 5 Heartbeats? Did I blow my shot? Is this where she met Leon? Did he stab me in the back again A.k.a. DUCK and JT?!!! MAKING THE 5 HEARTBEATS available now.
Cynthia Bailey, who is a cast member on the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ re-posted the clip on Instagram saying:
“You’ll be surprise to see all the people who #auditioned for The Five Heartbeats”
Cynthia Bailey, now 53, was just 22-years-old in the audition video. ‘The Five Heartbeats’ stars Leon Robinson as J.T. Matthews. Interestingly enough, he and Cynthia Bailey were once engaged and share a child, 20-year-old Noelle Robinson.
