Meek Mill Accuses Police Of Physically Assaulting Him When He Was Younger, Shares Throwback Photo w/ Bandage On His Face
Tension is continuously rising after the death of George Floyd, a black man killed by a white police offer in Minneapolis, MN. Social media has been set ablaze with photos, videos, and hashtags of the tragic death.
Others have shared their own accounts of police brutality and racial injustice stories, including rapper, Meek Mill (born Robert Rihmeek Williams, 33). Meek Mill shared a photo of himself on Instagram of what seems to be his battered face with bandages on. He captioned the photo,
Mom my took this pic and filed it with internal affairs, nothing happened! I been a rebel since!!! #georgefloyd I got charges for breaking one of the cops hands also like he didn’t break his hand on my face!
Meek Mill has been no stranger to his dealings with law enforcement but this photo seems to hit everyone differently in the times we’re experiencing.
The awareness is far beyond just a few headlines of George Floyd’s death. Now, protest eruptions are happening across the country.
Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, made a statement during a press conference regarding the tragic death of George Floyd. He said,
“Being black in America should not be a death sentence. For five minutes, we watched as a white officer pressed his knee into the neck of a black man. For five minutes. When you hear someone calling for help, you’re supposed to help. This officer failed in the most basic human sense. What happened on Chicago & 38th, this last night, is simply awful. It was traumatic, and it serves as a clear reminder of just how far we have to go.”
