Since the incident, Doja Cat has apologized and is now using her celebrity for good by donating to #JusticeForBreonna.

On March 13th, Louisville police officers used a battering ram to crash into the apartment of emergency room technician Breonna Taylor and fired several shots, striking her at least eight times. The police were investigating two men who they believed were selling drugs out of a house that was far from Breonna Taylor’s home, but a judge signed a warrant allowing the search of Breonna’s home because the police said they believed that one of the men had used her apartment to receive packages.

It was later revealed that the suspect was already in custody by the time that the police entered Breonna’s home. The three officers involved have been placed on administrative reassignment.
In a post to Instagram on June 6th, Doja Cat acknowledged what would have been Breonna’s 27th birthday, and announced that she was donating $100,000 to the foundation tasked with bringing justice for Breonna Taylor’s murder.
Doja Cat wrote:
“Happy birthday to the beautiful Breonna Taylor, who would have been celebrating her 27th birthday today. I am donating $100,000 to Justice For Breonna Taylor Fund #BIRTHDAYFORBREONNA and I am inviting you all to honor and celebrate her with me by donating whatever you can and signing her petition – the link is in my bio. I’m urging all my friends, family, fans, and colleagues to please donate whatever you can to her cause and to ALL the foundations that are helping us bring justice and demand change! We are all in this together and together is the ONLY way to demand change for a better world.”

Other celebrities such as Beyonce, Lizzo, and Gabrielle Union also wished Breonna a happy birthday and also called for justice.

Since the public caught wind of the case, Breonna’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit claiming charges of battery, wrongful death, excessive force, negligence, and gross negligence. The FBI’s Louisville office also announced they were opening an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. As for the Louisville Police Department, they said it would require all sworn officers to wear body cameras and vowed to change how the department carries out search warrants.
Continued prayers for everyone impacted by Breonna’s tragic death.
