Kandi Burruss Gets Legal Course Taught About Her Life & Career At GSU College Of Law
Singer, Entrepreneur, and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss will have a college class taught about her life and career at Georgia State University’s College of Law.
The college released a statement about the new class along with why the professor Mo Ivory, chose Kandi specifically. Last fall, GSU taught a course on the life and career of rapper Ludacris and now will be teaching about Kandi Burruss, as the school prepares students to practice law in Georgia’s growing entertainment industry. When asked why she chose Kandi specifically, Professor Mo Ivory stated,
“I chose Kandi because she has an amazing career, which spans every aspect of the entertainment industry from music, television and live performance to licensing, apparel and more. I wanted to study a woman this time around, and having worked with Kandi in the past, I knew she was the perfect choice. She handles her business and it shows with her success, but all the while she’s completely approachable and willing to share her lessons learned. I couldn’t be happier for my students to learn the law through Kandi’s career.”
“This class, and the entire Entertainment, Sports and Media Law Certificate program, gives students a real-world look into client representation, writing and interpreting contracts, negotiating deals, and the personal touch it takes to be successful in this practice area. These skills aren’t always taught in a traditional law school setting, and I’m looking forward to an exciting semester.”
Kandi Burruss also released a statement about the course, stating,
“I am honored to be part of this year’s curriculum at Georgia State University College of Law. Attorneys are among the most important members of your team. It’s imperative you have the right lawyers around you to assist in making the best decisions. Every contract you sign is building towards your overall dreams and goals. I’m excited to see the students get a first-hand look into some of the contracts that have shaped my career thus far.”
Kandi also took to her Instagram to express her excitement about the class, writing,
“I am so honored that @georgiastateuniversity college of law decided to do a legal course about my life! Wow!!! Thank you! They will go through the different business & career choices that I’ve made from a legal perspective & that is a lot to go through!Thank you @moivoryshow for making this happen.”
Some of the entrepreneurial moves that Kandi has made over the years besides being a member of the R&B girl group Xscape, as well as being a Grammy award winning songwriter include her joining the Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2009. While on the show, Kandi has opened three Old Lady Gang restaurants, launched a Kandi Koated Nights podcast, created a Bedroom Kandi sex toy line, as well as winning the Masked Singer this year.
