Jussie Smollett – Prosecutor Kim Foxx Has Been Cleared Of Potential Criminal Conduct While Handling Actor’s Case

The investigation into the case surrounding Jussie Smollett’s infamous allegations that he was the victim of a hate crime in 2019 continues as Special Prosecutor Dan Webb publicly shared his findings regarding the way Kim Foxx, the Cook County State’s Attorney, handled the case.

According to Dan Webb, Kim Foxx and her team made several misleading statements surrounding the case and her recusal from it. However, Dan Webb shared that he did not find that the case was wrongfully influenced by outside parties and cleared Kim Foxx and her office of potential criminal conduct.

Foxx’s office shared in an announcement that Webb’s findings

“puts to rest any implications of outside influence or criminal activity on the part of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.”

Jussie Smollett’s attorney Mark Geragos released a statement regarding the report as well.

“This so called “report” on Kim Foxx and the timing of the recharging of Jussie reveals the real political electoral motivation of Dan Webb and his cohorts. It’s a blatant attempt to take down a black, progressive, female prosecutor who does not fit within the white power structure. Jussie, a black, gay man who maintains his innocence, continues to be used as a pawn.”

He added,

“Today’s report confirms what the defense has said all along—there was no wrongdoing or undue influence by Jussie or the defense in the dismissal of all charges against him and the second wave of charges is a blatant constitutional violation.”

As previously reported, many people were shocked when Kim Foxx initially decided to drop the charges against Jussie Smollett following his claims that he was attacked because of his race and sexuality. He was previously indicted on 16 felony counts for allegedly lying to police about the incident.

Foxx made headlines when her text messages were published that showed her claiming the charges against Jussie Smollett were too harsh and calling him a “washed-up celeb.”

“Sooo……I’m recused, but when people accuse us of overcharging cases…16 counts on a class 4 becomes exhibit A. Pedophile with 4 victims 10 counts. Washed up celeb who lied to cops, 16. On a case eligible for deferred prosecution I think it’s indicative of something we should be looking at generally. Just because we can charge something doesn’t mean we should.”

Following her text messages being leaked, Foxx was subpoenaed to appear in court before Judge Sheila O’Brien to explain in detail how she handled Jussie Smollett’s case.
