Tekashi 6ix9ine Reveals He Was Suicidal While Behind Bars

Tekashi 6ix9ine seems to be living his best life since he was released from jail earlier this year, but he’s now revealed that he once considered taking his own life while he was behind bars.

The “Trollz” rapper became a topic of conversation after he infamously took the stand in a federal case and testified against his fellow gang members. He was facing 47 years in prison himself but because of his testimony, was only sentenced to two. He was ultimately released months before his time was up because of the spread of COVID-19 in prisons.

Now, he’s opening up and said he was suicidal during his time in jail. He said during an interview in Fox 5 New York:

“The pressure is so strong. Mentally, I think people would have attempted suicide. At a point in jail, I thought about it. It’s so much stress, so much pressure, because you’re seeing yourself on the news every day — this, that and a third, when is this going to come to an end?”

Tekashi 6ix9ine also explained that he checked into a hospital after suffering complications from asthma.

“With the asthma and the coronavirus, I caught bronchitis once and two asthma attacks in prison. When I caught bronchitis, they sent me to the hospital and the doctor said, ‘What’s going on in that jail? Why is it so cold in that jail?’ I remember, I’m handcuffed … to the bed.”

He went on to speak to those who have labeled him a “snitch”:

“The audience understands it, the world, the public understands it, but they’ll paint it like, ‘Well, we don’t understand, this guy’s a snitch.’ But what’s the definition of a snitch? I feel like the definition of a snitch and definition of a rat is telling on your friends.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine ended with,

“God has built me so strong. You know that saying, ‘What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger’? So basically I feel like I’m not invincible but I feel like I’m at the peak of my mental state, where I’m just like, ‘I’ll be fine.’”
