August 28, 2020 was Angela Yee Day and I was planning to sit it out this year and focus on community service but @chelseafied and @iamstilettogoddess at @vprecords and @parisnguy convinced me to still produce a virtual concert AND I decided it would be the perfect time to support and visit some black owned businesses in Brooklyn. With the help of @power1051 @wingstop @wrayandnephewus @miss_jessies @djnorie we were able to celebrate this day as well as the release of #ReggaeGold2020. I also urged people to donate to some of the organizations I work with like @afuwi @wearefamilyfdtn @shirleychisholminstitute @nypl @thenmaam and launched my own foundation focused on nutrition, wellness and literacy @wethewellread ?. Extra special gratitude to the artists who lent their time and extraordinary talents for the day, you can catch the full concert on the @breakfastclubam YouTube page: @queenifrica @realromainvirgo @Noahpowa @kesthebandofficial @JoshXantus @iAmchrismartin @ajjiworld @dmajormuzic @hoodcelebrityy @kranium @kingbeenieman And shout to @thebakeryonbergen @juicesforlifebk @daddygreenspizzabk @eclecticwineliquor @tillysbklyn @suedenyc @footprintscafe @negrilbk @mangoseedbklyn @zurileebklyn @brooklynroasting @coffeeupliftspeople @planetbklynacademy @isaywesay

The purpose of Angela Yee Day, officially declared by Mayor Bill de Blasio on August 28th 2018, is about being of service to the community. Angela Yee raised money with a “Back To School” drive for students of the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies and supported some black businesses in Brooklyn including The Bakery On Bergen, Juices For Life, Daddy Greens Pizza, Eclectic Wine Liquor, Tilly’s, Suede, Foot Prints, Negril, Mangoseed, ZuriLee, Brooklyn Roasting, Coffee Uplifts People and Planet Brooklyn Academy.

Along with Power 105.1 and VP Records/ Reggae Gold 2020, this year’s partners included Wray and Nephew Rum, Wing Stop, Personal-Touch CDPAP and Miss Jessie’s Hair Care.
