Kehlani Explains Why She Unfollowed Megan Thee Stallion: Instagram Is Toxic, I’m Unfollowing Everyone!

Update #2 (Oct. 15th): Kehlani has spoken out after fans took notice that she unfollowed her friend Megan Thee Stallion on Instagram.

She wrote:

“I am unfollowing everyone and starting at zero, Instagram only lets you go a certain amount at a time. I am trying to get to zero to start over again. i followed 2300 people [laughing Emojis]”

She added the caption:

“y’all theories are a** juice and instagram is toxic which is why i’m tryna clean my timeline up to stay off of it . if u follow me closely you know i been off twitter for a while too. i’m in a great placeeeeee mind ur beeeeez life is goooood” 

Original Story: Kehlani has fueled speculation that there are issues between her and Megan Thee Stallion after the singer quietly unfollowed the Houston rapper on Instagram. Megan Thee Stallion still follows Kehlani.

It’s not clear when it happened or why, but some fans took notice Thursday (Oct. 15th) and reacted on Twitter.

One pointed out that Kehlani wasn’t singling out Megan and unfollowed tons of other people on the social media app too, while another fan said users were overthinking Kehlani’s move.

Kehlani unfollowing Megan Thee Stallion comes after she defended Megan amid reports that Tory Lanez allegedly shot the “Savage” rapper during a dispute. She removed Tory Lanez from her song, “Can I”, and publicly supported Megan Thee Stallion during an interview.

Kehlani explained,

“I have always been a very socially responsible individual, very accountable to my message, whenever I’ve messed up, whenever I’ve done something that didn’t align with the things that I stand for and the things that I push so hard.”

“As someone with a large platform, as someone that people look up to, as a woman that makes other women feel safe and empowered, people were asking me, ‘Are you going to keep somebody on it who doesn’t necessarily make us feel safe or empowered, as a woman?’”

She also said she and Megan Thee Stallion are really close friends, so she removed Tory Lanez out of loyalty for their friendship.

“The situation was involving someone that I’m extremely close to.  So I just felt like, on some loyal sh*t, and on some do the right thing, you have to be responsible. Absolutely, I’m changing up the record.

I was conversed in private, it was spoken about, it was all thorough, it was business, and it was also loyalty to a situation…That’s not a industry friendship, that’s really my friend, it’s someone I say ‘I love you’ to.”
