Chrissy Teigen & Freddie Gibbs Situations Played A Part In Everyday Struggle Ending Says DJ Akademiks
DJ Akademiks announced that he is done with Everyday Struggle, and also that the show is coming to an end later this month.
Complex’s show Everyday Struggle, began in April of 2017 with DJ Akademiks alongside Nadeska Alexis and Joe Budden. It was confirmed at the end of 2017 that Joe Budden would not be returning.
Things began to get rocky on the show when, DJ Akademiks made come sexist comments about Chrissy Tiegen on his Twitch stream, that led him to being suspended on Everyday Struggle. He said,
“One time [Chrissy Teigen] sneak dissed me so f–k that hoe. Straight up. I don’t care if you John Legend’s b—h or any other b—h. How about you take that big ass mouth of yours and that f—ing weird ass looking face and start buying your man’s album… Chrissy Teigen suck a d–k.”
AK returned to the show, and apologized for the comments, saying:
“I definitely want to start off by kind of apologizing for some of the stuff that has been going on outside of the show… I think I definitely went over the line when I was addressing a few women and I just felt that wasn’t right… Even seeing the clip it looks nasty.”
During his departure announcement, he says that the Chrissy Teigen situation, played a part in the shows ending. He said,
“Yes, it was a very weird moment with the Chrissy Teigen thing, but it wasn’t only that. I received calls from them about other content that they felt I probably shouldn’t been engaged in,”
He added,
“I specifically told them, ‘Listen, while you may look at me as the ‘guy’ on your show, I have a whole different brand to run.’”
DJ Akademiks also says that he felt like he wasn’t backed by Complex during the Freddie Gibbs situation. It all began when Freddie Gibbs went on The Bootleg Kev Podcast and he dissed Jeezy’s album, and called Jeezy “irrelevant,” he said:
“Let’s be real, dawg. Did you listen to his last album? No you f***ing didn’t. He’s a legend but right now, you’re irrelevant.”
AK fired back on Everyday Struggle to Freddie Gibbs saying,
“if Jeezy is irrelevant, Freddie Gibbs, you are absolutely irrelevant as well […] If Jeezy drop an album right now, he sell 50,000… Relevancy means is your music actually doing anything? And to be honest, other than the few people who f*** with Freddie Gibbs, what relevancy does he have?”
Freddie Gibbs took his rebuttal to Twitter saying about Akademiks:
“I’ll give a bad b*tch 5k if they admit to sleeping with @Akademiks,”
In which Akademiks replied,
“Freddie … don’t play urself … u not even more successful more than me. Relax ur self kid. U underground. Don’t try to ever play me. If u really wanna try me me.. a BLOGGER. Let’s go.”
Akademiks goes in detail with his departure on his Twitch stream:
Everyday Struggle host Nadeska Alexis, also announced that her Akademiks, and Wayno, will have their last show on December 17.
She said in a video update:
“Thursday, December 17 is going to be the final episode of Everyday Struggle. For those of you who have been rocking with us since April 2017, you know this has been a very very eventful ride. We’ve had a lot of highs, a lot of lows and I think this is really the end of an era.”
