Jamie Foxx Will Play Mike Tyson In Limited Series On Boxer’s Life
According to new reports, Jamie Foxx accepted the lead role for “Tyson”, which will air on a network or streaming platform. He will also executive produce.
Antoine Fuqua is slated to direct and executive produce under the Fuqua Films umbrella. Martin Scorsese will executive produce with Sikelia Productions. Colin Preston has already written the “Pilot” and is continuing with the full series.
Mike Tyson said of the upcoming series,
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time. With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
He and his wife Kiki Tyson will executive produce with Sophie Watts and John Ryan Jr. for the boxer’s Legends Only League. LBI Entertainment’s Rick Yorn has also been named as executive producer while Azim Spicer of Legends Only League will be the associate producer.
Jamie Foxx originally secured the lead role for a biopic about Mike Tyson last year.
“Look, doing biographies is a tough thing, sometimes it takes 20 years to get them done. But we officially got the real ball rolling.”
He continued and said he’s ready to embody the part.
“We want to show everybody evolves, I think when we lay the layer of Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey. And then just the technology of how I’m gonna look, I guarantee you people will run up on me in the street, and ask for autographs, and think that I’m Mike. Every other day, I do 60 pull-ups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 push-ups. I ain’t got no calf muscles, so we might have to get some prosthetics for that.”
