‘Bridgerton’ Star Rege-Jean Page Not Returning For Season 2

‘Bridgerton’ Star Rege-Jean Page Not Returning For Season 2
Rege-Jean Page, a fan favorite on Netflix’s mega-hit Bridgerton, won’t be returning for the new season.
Insiders say, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that he only had a one-season contract with the show. While fans might be shocked that Rege-Jean Page’s Simon Bassett won’t be back, this reportedly aligns with what producers and Netflix had in mind all along.
Season two of the Shonda Rhimes hit is said to be centered around another one of Julia Quinn’s novels and will be all about Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey). Considering that, Simon’s love interest Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Deynevor) will return. This time, viewers will see her as a wife and sister who is very much a part of her brother, Anthony’s life. While he won’t be on the show any longer, Rege-Jean Page’s character will still be a topic of conversation.
The Netflix show confirmed the news with a statement, appearing to be from the series’ resident gossiper Lady Whistledown.
“Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear. Yours truly, Lady Whistledown.”
Rege-Jean Page also spoke on his departure via Twitter.

Production for season two will begin this month.
