Melinda Gates Has Reportedly Been Meeting With Divorce Lawyers Since 2019 After Ties Between Bill Gates & Convicted Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein Became Public

Melinda Gates, philanthropist and wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and her husband announced last week they’re divorcing after 27 years of marriage. During their marriage, the couple was well-known humanitarians and philanthropists through their Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

They released a statement via Twitter citing:

“We no longer believe we can grow as a couple in the next phase of our lives.”

Although neither has confirmed what specifically prompted the split, there is speculation that the primary point of contention for Melinda Gates was Bill Gates’ alleged dealings with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. A former employee of their charity, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, told The Wall Street Journal that Melinda Gates’ concerns about  Jeffrey Epstein went back as far as 2013. With her concerns in tow, the 56-year-old philanthropist has been working with divorce attorneys since 2019.

Sources allege Melinda Gates told her husband she was uncomfortable with Jeffrey Epstein after the couple met him. It’s been reported that despite Melinda’s concerns, Bill Gates continued a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

When Bill Gates asked about the status of his relationship with Epstein in an interview back in 2019, he stated:

“I met him, but I didn’t have any business relationship or friendship with him.”

A spokesperson for Bill said he met Epstein on multiple occasions to discuss philanthropy, and commented:

“Bill Gates regrets ever meeting with Epstein and recognizes it was an error in judgment to do so.” 

In August 2019, Epstein committed suicide in a lower Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking minors.
