The cast of the upcoming House Party reboot has been revealed!
The hit 1990 comedy film is being reimagined by New Line Cinema, and they’ve recruited quite the cast for the project! As reported by Variety, the latest celebrities who are confirmed to star in the reboot are Melvin Gregg, Rotimi, and Allen Maldonado. Melvin Gregg is known for his roles on Snowfall and The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and Rotimi starred in Power and Coming 2 America. For his part, Allen Maldonado is known for appearing in Blackish and Straight Outta Compton.
In addition to these newly-added actors, the House Party reboot will also feature Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Tosin Cole, Karen Obilom, and DC Young Fly.
The original version of the movie featured musicians Christopher “Kid” Reid and Christopher “Play” Martin, who comprised the hip-hop duo Kid ‘n Play. Additionally, the 1990 film starred Tisha Martin-Campbell, Martin Lawrence, A.J. Johnson, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and the music group Full Force.
The new reboot of the classic film will be produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.
Additionally, Reginald and Warrington Hudlin--who executively produced the original film–will return to the House Party to serve as executive producers for the reboot, alongside Spencer Beighley and Jamal Henderson. New Line Cinema executives Richard Brener, Josh Mack, and Victoria Palmeri will also oversee the project.
It is currently unclear when the film will debut. However, since the reboot was announced back in 2018, it could be sooner rather than later!
