Britney Spears Thanks Fans Amid Win In Court, Wants To Press Charges Against Her Father For Conservatorship Abuse: I Thought They Were Trying To Kill Me

Britney Spears has won some autonomy in her current conservatorship case, and she’s overjoyed about it!

As previously reported, Britney Spears has been engaged in court hearings regarding her 13-year-long conservatorship. She is attempting to remove her father–Jamie Spears–from her conservatorship, and she has accused him of being abusive and controlling.

During a conservatorship hearing yesterday (Wednesday, July 14th), Britney Spears was awarded the right to appoint her own legal counsel to her team. As such, she can now exert more independence when it comes to making decisions in the conservatorship case. Britney Spears is now represented by Hollywood attorney Matthew Rosengart, whom she handpicked.

On top of this win, she announced her plans to press charges against her father. At yesterday’s hearing, she said:

“I’m here to get rid of my dad and charge him for conservatorship abuse. I want to press charges for abuse on this conservatorship today—all of it. This conservatorship has allowed my dad to ruin my life. I thought they were trying to kill me.”

Afterward, Britney Spears took to Instagram to celebrate her newfound right to “real representation” and thank fans for their support. She posted a video of her horseback riding and doing cartwheels, captioning it:

“Coming along, folks… coming along [insert middle finger emoji]!!!!! New with real representation today… I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED!!!! Thank you to my fans who are supporting me… You have no idea what it means to be supported by such awesome fans!!!! God bless you all!!!!! Pssss this is me celebrating by horseback riding and doing cartwheels today!!!! #FreeBritney.”
