Simone Biles Denies She Withdrew From Olympic Finals Event Due To Messing Up: I Didn’t Quit, My Mind & Body Are Simply Not In Sync
Simone Biles is setting the record straight!
Late last night (Thursday, July 29th), Simone Biles took to her Instagram story to engage in a Q&A with her followers. The main focus appeared to be for the athlete to address her “twisties,” which are mid-air gymnastic twists. Prior to her Q&A, Simone Biles posted a now-deleted video showing her struggling with her “twisties” and dismount.
In her responses to her followers’ questions about her “twisties,” the athlete claimed:
“I seriously cannot comprehend how to twist.”

She continued addressing her “twisties” for another few posts, stating she would not be twisting in her future, non-Olympic competitions. Simone Biles also spoke on how scary it is to rapidly twist mid-air, writing:
“It’s the craziest feeling ever. Not having an inch of control over your body. What’s even scarier is since I have no idea where I am in the air I also have NO idea how I’m going to land. Or what I’m going to land on. Head/ hands/ feet, back….”

Towards the very end of her Q&A, Simone Biles spoke on the rumors that she pulled out of the Olympic finals due to poor performance. Before Simone Biles revealed she pulled out of the event for mental health reasons, various outlets speculated that the athlete withdrew due to her performance not being up to par. Simone Biles wrote:
“I didn’t have a bad performance & quit. I’ve had plenty of bad performances throughout my career and finished the competition. I simply got so lost my safety was at risk as well as a team medal… For anyone saying I quit. I didn’t quit my mind & body are simply not in sync.”
