DaBaby To Perform At Boosie’s Upcoming ‘Boosie Bash’ Event In Baton Rouge

It looks like Boosie is supporting DaBaby amid his recent controversy.

Yesterday (Wednesday, Aug. 18th), Boosie (real name Torrence Hatch Jr.) revealed he was going to have DaBaby perform at Boosie Bash later this month.  He made the announcement by posting a video of DaBaby (real name Jonathan Kirk) to his Instagram. In the video, the controversial “Giving What It’s Supposed To Give” rapper says:

“Boosie Bash. August 28th, n***a. Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Live show killer–dumb s**t.”

Boosie‘s decision to bring DaBaby onto the Boosie Bash lineup comes amid the latter’s recent homophobia controversy. As previously reported, DaBaby made remarks about gay men and people diagnosed with HIV during his recent Lollapalooza set. The rapper told his fans:

“If you didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will make you die in 2 [or] 3 weeks, put a cellphone light in the air.”

He continued:

“Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put ya cellphone light in the air. Keep it f**king real!”

In the aftermath of his controversial comments, DaBaby was dropped from numerous different music festivals. His clothing collaboration with boohooMAN was also dropped due to his comments.

Boosie adding DaBaby to the Boosie Bash lineup is not the first time the “Set It Off” rapper has come to his defense. Shortly after the controversy began, Boosie shared an Instagram Live video condemning Lil Nas X and seemingly defending DaBaby‘s stance. In part, Boosie stated:

“Y’all talkin about DaBaby and this n***a [Lil Nas X] say he wanna get naked for charity… Everybody ain’t with that gay s**t. The world needs to know that not everybody with that gay s**t, man.”

Boosie Bash is scheduled to go down on Aug. 28th at Southern University.
