Rotimi Say ‘I Was Tired Of Being In The Streets’ As He Talks Being Engaged + His Mom & Now Fiancée Cried The First Time They Met

Actor and recording artist Rotimi is opening up about what made him pop the question to his now-fiancée.

Rotimi proposed to Tanzanian singer-songwriter Vanessa Mdee at the end of last year. They went public with their relationship in November 2019.

In a recent interview with Angie Martinez, he shared:

“I’m really excited.  I have a wedding record that is going to go crazy on there.  It’s called “I Do”.

He continued about how it feels to be engaged:

“It was a mix of everything, like I was tired of being in the streets.  She just literally made me have tunnel vision.

When asked about his mom and his fiancée, he says:

“She loves her.  The funny thing is when they first met they both cried.  It was the weirdest thing.  It was like a finally moment.  It was so weird, they met maybe a month into her and I dating.  She was like, ‘My daughter!'”

When they got engaged, Vanessa Mdee shared a video of the ring and told the world how much she loves the Power actor.  She wrote,

“The answer is YES!!!! 

A year and a half ago the world laughed at me when I said I knew YOU were my husband only days after spending time with you. I didn’t blame them, after all it’s an uncommon and inexplicable feeling when you meet your soulmate. ( Also they’d met the Vee who had no plans to be married).

On my 30th birthday my plans for the years to come were so different from where we are now, but GOD laughs when we are making plans.Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for YOU, they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give YOU a future and a hope.

Honestly, my future was feeling bleak and I was losing hope in what I thought was a perfect plan.

She continued,
