Singer B. Slade Calls Out Gospel Artist Bri Babineaux For Accusing Kanye West of Stealing Her Song: He Came To The Rightful Owner Legally

Singer and songwriter B.Slade called out gospel singer Bri Babineaux after she accused rapper Kanye West of stealing her song.  Sunday (Aug. 29th), Kanye West released his highly-anticipated album Donda.  One song on the album, “Lord I Need You”, caught the ears of Bri Babineaux and she wasn’t happy about it.

The lines are:

“Lord sometimes I feel like I can’t make it, Lord sometimes I just feel like I can’t go on. But Lord I need you to wrap your arms around me.”

She uploaded and then deleted an Instagram post that said,

“Thank you to everyone who congratulated me on the #Donda album. However, I had no knowledge of this before hand [sic]. It would’ve been nice to know before the album came out smh…. Who does that voice sound like to y’all? #donda.”

She also shared a clip of her singing the song and Kanye West’s “Lord I Need You” to compare.

Although the allegation hasn’t been confirmed or acknowledged publicly by Kanye West or his team, B.Slade commented via Twitter and called out Bri Babineaux for not getting his green light before recording his song, Make Me Over.

“But you didn’t call ME to clear your version of the song that was sampled though [shrug Emoji] you were discovered by doing a rendition of a song that I wrote 100%…..so Kanye stole nothing because he came to the rightful owner of the song legally.  Let’s all be clear here.”

He went on to clarify that Kanye West cleared the song with him “many months ago” but that Bri Babineaux failed to ask his permission when she released her version commercially

.

Bri Babineaux has not responded to B. Slade yet.
