Kanye West Accused Of Stealing Gospel Singer Bri Babineaux’s Song For ‘Donda’ Track: It Would’ve Been Nice To Know Before The Album Came Out

Did Kanye West steal a verse from Bri Babineaux for a Donda track?

Yesterday (Sunday, Aug. 29th), Kanye West finally released his highly-anticipated Donda album. However, one song caught gospel singer Bri Babineaux‘s attention–and not in a positive way. After Donda dropped, various users began acknowledging that Bri Babineaux was sampled on Kanye West‘s “Lord I Need You” track without being credited.  Specifically, the lines in question are:

“Lord sometimes I feel like I can’t make it, Lord sometimes I just feel like I can’t go on. But Lord I need you to wrap your arms around me.”

Bri Babineaux shared various people’s posts on the matter to her Instagram Story. See a few screenshots below.

Additionally, she uploaded a now-deleted Instagram post on the subject. Bri Babineaux posted a clip of her singing the lines in question, captioned:

“Thank you to everyone who congratulated me on the #Donda album. However, I had no knowledge of this before hand [sic]. It would’ve been nice to know before the album came out smh…. Who does that voice sound like to y’all? #donda.”

Neither Kanye West nor manager Abou “Bu” Thiam has publicly acknowledged Bri Babineaux‘s allegation.
