The View’s Sunny Hostin & Sara Haines Disagree On Whether Monica Lewinsky Is A Victim & Profiting From Bill Clinton Affair: 3 Movies Later Isn’t Enough?

Well according to The View host Sunny Hostin, it is possible for Monica Lewinsky.

On a new episode of the talk show, co-host Joy Behar, 78, Sunny Hostin, 52, Sara Haines, 44, and guest host Ana Navarro-Cárdenas shared their thoughts on Monica Lewinsky and her affair with former President Bill Clinton.

Ana Navarro-Cárdenas said,

“Quite frankly, they’re both going to carry this the rest of their lives. It’s going to be in their obituary. It’s going to be in Monica Lewinsky’s obituary that she had an affair with the president of the United States and it’s going to be in Bill Clinton’s obituary that he got impeached for perjury for having an affair with a 22-year-old intern.”

Joy Behar shared that she was old enough to remember when John Kennedy had pool parties at the White House but felt no one cared.

Sunny Hostin then asked Sara Haines if she felt Lewinsky was a victim, to which Haines replied:

“I see her more [of a] victim, this is why I think equalizing that they both did something wrong is minimizing what was done here. You got a grown man who is married, took vows, who has loyalties and fidelity to a wife, he chose to be a dog, which we’ve forgiven for years.”

She continued,

“She didn’t have a string of those types of things. She didn’t have a history of sexual assault or abuse of power, she was 22.”

Seemingly unmoved, Sunny Hostin asked Haines if she thought Monica Lewinsky should be able to make a career off the affair to which Haines replied, “I don’t think she is though.” But Hostin disagreed saying,

“[But] She’s producing movies now. She did a Ted Talk, she produced a movie, and now she’s producing another movie. Three movies later isn’t enough?”

Referring to Bill Clinton, Behar added,

“And he’s made plenty of money since then, plenty of money. He’s been doing speeches all over the place.” 

Ana Navarro-Cárdenas agreed saying,

“For hundreds and thousands, and millions of dollars.” 

Following the conversation, fans immediately took to Twitter to share their thoughts, most agreeing with Hostin, causing The View to become a trending topic.

As a former White House intern, Lewinsky was at the heart of Bill Clinton’s impeachment scandal after intimate details of their affair were made public. Her new show, American Crime Story: Impeachment follows Lewinsky and her actions leading up to the scandal.
