Charlamagne Tha God Wants To Make Amends With Nicki Minaj: We Use To Be Really Cool

Charlamagne Tha God Wants To Squash His Decade-Long Feud W/ Nicki Minaj
Infamous radio show host Charlamagne Tha God has had conflict with many celebrities. However, it appears that he is ready to repair his friendship with trailblazing rap star Nicki Minaj. According to Charlamagne, they were really good friends–until he clowned one of her songs.
Nicki Minaj’s 2014 single “Anaconda” tore up the charts and had the internet going wild. Fans were constantly reciting the lyrics and referencing the risqué music video. Charlamagne, on the other hand, didn’t see the appeal of “Anaconda” and said that it was “trash” and “corny.” He berated the song on The Breakfast Club and Twitter. He told the It’s Business like Show Business but Mind Your Business podcast in 2014:
“I know she got upset when I said ‘Anaconda’ was corny,” said Charlamagne. “But my exact synopsis on ‘Anaconda’ when it first came out was I’m not really feeling this record. It’s not for me. It’s for girls, it’s for kids, it’s for people who like to shake their a**.”
He continued:
“I said when the video comes out, I will probably appreciate this song more. But I said, ‘it’s going to work but its corny.”
Nicki unfollowed him on Twitter that year. Five years later, Nicki rehashed their conflict on an episode of her Apple Music show Queen Radio, where she accused Charlamagne of starting a “hate train” against her with his past comments.

Today (Dec. 3), Charlamagne wants to make amends with his former friend, with whom he claimed he used to be “really cool” with. In a recent interview with Jalen Rose’s Renaissance Man podcast he said:
“What celebrity would I like to make amends with…probably Nicki Minaj. Me and Nicki used to be super, we used to be really cool.”
He continued:
“Yeah, I was very vocal about not liking the ‘Anaconda’ record back in the day and, yeah, definitely, probably Nicki. I got a lotta respect for Nicki. What Nicki has done is unprecedented. She revitalized female Hip Hop over the past decade.”
He went on to praise Nicki and spoke about what she’s done for female rappers.
“All of these new artists, every single one of ’em from [Cardi B] to [Megan Thee Stallion], it’s because of Nicki.”
He added:
“Nicki opened that lane again. Yeah, probably Nicki.”
