Whoopi Goldberg Takes Sick Leave From ‘The View’ After Testing Positive For COVID

Covid-19 is sweeping throughout The View hosts’ households during this holiday season as co-host Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin tested positive for the virus over the Christmas break, leaving Goldberg to have to take a break from the show.

The 66-year-old actress and talk show host is said to be having “mild symptoms” as she recovers from the virus, which is said to be a result of her double vaccination, and boosted status.

Co-host Joy Behar, 79, revealed the news on the talk show, with the statement:

“Whoopi unfortunately tested positive over the break, but she will hopefully be back next week… Since she is vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very mild, but we are being super cautious here at The View.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin also tested positive before Christmas but has since been released from quarantine to continue filming, associating her wellness with her vaccination. She shared,

“I am so thankful that I was vaccinated and boosted because I just had cold-like symptoms, but I didn’t feel great.”

Co-hosts Ana Navarro, 50, and Sara Haines, 44, also admit to having had family members contract the virus during the holidays, with Navarro’s father and Haine’s husband testing positive.

The talk show is set to continue remotely, as the prevalence of the omicron variant has become a factor of concern for producers of the daytime talk show.
