Wale Pulls Out Of Broccoli City Festival: I Don’t Care About Headlining, It’s About Respect!

Wale removes himself from a festival lineup.

D.C. rapper Wale took to Twitter to announce that he would no longer be a part of the 2022 Broccoli City Festival. What started out as a simple declaration quickly turned into a Twitter storm. His first tweet read:

“I’m Pullin out this show .”

When a fan asked for an explanation, the “Lotus Flower Bomb” rapper replied:

“Respect is why.”

Many fans speculated that Wale was unhappy because he wasn’t among the festival headliners–21 Savage, Ari Lennox, and Lil Durk.

He shot that accusation down with another tweet:

“I don’t care bout headlining. This isn’t about that.”

Broccoli City stepped in to defuse the situation:

We are looking to work something out with @Wale– he is a great artist that we respect! We will work something out ! It’s love. We black he black – we all want to bring vibes to the city!”

However, Wale didn’t directly respond.

He later stated:

“Since BC fest started I’ve never been asked to perform . I actually asked to one time but it didn’t happen . The game is the game . I didn’t trip . When I was in nigeria in December somebody in booking agreed to somethin EYE did not agree to. Failure in communication . Cool.”

He added:

“I have no issue with BC or anybody . Some folks jumped the gun and “agreed for me” . I’m not interested in throwin anybody under the bus . This happens all the time in this business .Everybody that knows no knows that I’d perform on that joint at 5 am if that’s what’s in contract.”

The Broccoli Festival will kick off in Washington D.C. on May 7th and end on the 8th. Rico Nasty, Jeezy, Summer Walker, Wizkid, and Gunna are listed as performers.
