‘9-1-1’ Actor Rockmond Dunbar Sues Disney & 20th Century Fox After Being Fired For Not Receiving The COVID Vaccine
It looks like Rockmond Dunbar isn’t okay with his ‘9-1-1’ exit after all.
As previously reported, last November news broke that ‘9-1-1’ star Rockmond Dunbar was indefinitely leaving the popular medical drama series over COVID vaccine regulations. Rockmond Dunbar, who portrayed Michael Grant on ‘9-1-1’ and has been a part of the show since it premiered in 2018, was reportedly written off of the series for refusing to get the COVID vaccine.
Following his exit from the series, Dunbar shared in a released statement that he was denied both religious and medical vaccine exemptions by his employer. He added,
“I have enjoyed the last 5 seasons with this wonderful cast and crew and will cherish the time I’ve been blessed to spend with this series and wish everyone involved nothing but the best.”
It now seems like Dunbar might be taking his well-wishes back. According to reports, the actor has filed a lawsuit against Disney and 20th Century Fox, the studios responsible for producing the show, and is accusing them of racial and religious discrimination. Dunbar’s lawsuit claims that he was the only Black male lead actor on ‘9-1-1’ and his dismissal greatly harmed his career.

The lawsuit also claims that after Dunbar submitted his religious and medical COVID-19 vaccine exemption documents, producers told him that they wanted to keep him on the show and an adjusted schedule would be made to accommodate for him being unvaccinated.
However, according to the suit, that never happened and Dunbar was then told that his character would temporarily be written off of the show. The lawsuit continues and claims that Dunbar was ultimately fired in retaliation by Disney and 20th Century Fox and the studios have yet to pay him the hundreds of thousands of dollars they allegedly still owe him.
In addition to that, Dunbar is arguing that the studios deliberately made it sound like he was an anti-vaxxer, which caused him to become an unwelcomed person in Hollywood. Dunbar is suing for financial compensation and is asking for an injunction barring the studios from discriminating against anyone based on race or religion when it comes to vaccination policies.
