Nipsey Hussle’s Family & The Mother Of His Child, Tanisha Foster, In Custody Battle Over 13-Year-Old Daughter, Claims Their Preference For Lauren London Has Worsened The Case

Rapper Nipsey Hussle’s family–along with actress Lauren London–is in the midst of a custody battle over his daughter, Emani Asghedom.

Court documents obtained by The Blast state that the mother of the 13-year-old, Tanisha Foster, is seeking to reverse the current custody arrangement. The late Los Angeles rapper’s family members–including his brother Sam–have fulfilled guardianship of the young girl.

According to the papers, Foster claims that the family’s preference for Lauren London over her has exacerbated the matter. She said:

“[The family members] have frequently demonstrated their disdain for Emani’s mother in favor of Lauren London who is the mother of the other two minors and such attitude may impact the ability for (the family) to carry out their fiduciary duties as guardian of the minor’s estate.”

Foster is also requesting to have a “neutral experience financial planner” step in to handle Emani’s inheritance.

In the legal documents, the child’s mother claimed that she and Nipsey were in a “loving relationship” at the time of his death. While he was alive, the pair had joint custody of their daughter. The “Double Up” rhymer financially supported Foster and Emani.

When Nipsey was murdered in 2019, Foster willingly handed over guardianship to Nipsey’s family members. The court documents explain:

“Tanisha’s motivation for doing so was in recognition of her own financial limitations; her desire to maintain the standard of living and family contact the minor had experienced with the paternal family prior to her father’s death; and upon the verbal assurances that each of them would act in the best interests of Emani.”

Things supposedly went south shortly after the agreement, with Nipsey’s family:

“Using their financial position and influence to disregard their priorities by controlling the desires of Emani and Tanisha by withholding financial assistance and reducing visitation.”

In the court filing, Foster, who met Nipsey in 2004, says that she plays an integral role in her daughter’s life:

“I have continued to be an active part of Emani’s life. She spends the night with me often, I take her to school, and I continue to do the things a parent would do with their child. I am very unhappy that the guardians will not take my calls. They have blocked me on their cell phones. I have to go through a third party or Emani to communicate with the guardians,”

She continues:

“here are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me for regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship. Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”

Foster hasn’t directly addressed the situation, but she seemingly mentioned it on her Instagram story:

“I’m trying to figure out how some of my information is being leaked out this is crazy,”

She added:

“I’m putting everything in the hands of the Lord everyone that has something negative to say can kiss Where the sun don’t shine and may you all have a blessed night.”

A court date is set for March 25, 2022. A judge will decide on the custody situation.
