During a recent appearance from Kandi Burruss on day-time talk show The Real, the TV personality and singer was vocal during a tough conversation about her childhood.
A snippet of the segment featured a topic that many need to hear, but not many talk about. While it may feel like the world is against us at times, the ladies of The Real, including Kandi Burruss, shared how they’ve dealt with that feeling.

Kandi Burruss kicks off the conversation, saying,
“I definitely have to say that I’ve been there, and I have been to the lowest places.”
She continued,
“For me, I was at that moment at a young age. I know this is going to sound crazy, but when I was in middle school I thought about taking my own life.”
As Kandi got emotional she expressed that she doesn’t really like talking about it, but knows that a lot of people are dealing with the same emotions. Kandi went on to describe a scenario of the time she had contemplated taking her life at a young age.
“My mother at the time she had a gun, and you know how you’re a kid you go through their stuff so I knew where she kept it and I had plans to use it, but, whatever reason, God made her put it somewhere else because it wasn’t where she normally kept it.”
Kandi gives credit to young people saying that they want to work on their mental health because of the mind space she was in when she was young.
“I always like to tell people, it can’t rain forever. The sun is going to shine again and sometimes it’s going to shine so bright on you when it does”.
