Jussie Smollett Releases New Song ‘Thank You God’ About His Hate Crime Scandal + Calls Out Lee Daniels & Don Lemon For Their Public Criticism: ‘That’s Why From L.D. To Don, I Still Got Love For Ya’ll’ [VIDEO]
It looks like Jussie Smollett is telling his truth through his music!
The 39-year-old actor–who was recently sentenced to 150 days in jail but released pending the outcome of his appeal–just dropped a new song. The former ‘Empire‘ star took to Instagram on Friday (Apr.8) to promote his new song, ‘Thank You God.’ The lyrics appear to highlight his feelings and inner thoughts behind his hate crime conviction. In a video displaying the lyrics of the song, Smollett first wrote,
“Channeling these thoughts the best way I know how.”

Some of the lyrics read,
“Some people searching for fame, some people chasing for clout. Just remember this…This ain’t that situation. You think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation? Just simply to look like a victim like it’s something fun.”
Jussie Smollett goes on to address the media and seemingly calls out Lee Daniels, 62, and Don Lemon, 56, for their public comments and criticism.
“They had my own people, thoughts going off the wall. That’s why from L.D. to Don, I still got love for ya’ll. I know we’ll meet again, talk like real men. Instead of sharing shade in rooms and up on CNN.”

As previously reported, Jussie Smollett was sentenced on March 10 to 150 days in jail and required to pay a $25,000 fine and $120,000 in restitution to the city of Chicago for lying to police about an alleged hate crime. In January 2019, Jussie Smollett reported to police that he was walking in Chicago early in the morning when he was jumped by two men, who hurled racial and homophobic epithets at him, doused him in a liquid thought to be bleach, and hung a noose around his neck. He was released from jail on March 16 pending an appeal of his conviction after serving just six days behind bars.
