Former ‘Glee’ Star Amber Riley & Fiancé Desean Black Have Called It Quits: I Wish Him The Best

Amber Riley has a new relationship status.

According to reports, former Glee star Amber Riley, 36, has called off her engagement with fiancé Desean Black, 34. A representative for Amber Riley confirmed the news, noting,

“They ask for privacy during this time.”

The pair first sparked break up rumors last month, when Amber Riley was on a press tour for her new Lifetime Original Movie “Single Black Female.” She sat down with the Nice & Neat podcast and said she was “single” on a March 17 episode, all while not wearing her engagement ring. Riley explained that she and Desean Black were no longer together. She said,

“I am a single Black female. I am, I’m a single Black female but I’m not a crazy one like in the movie,” Riley said on the podcast, referring to her 2022 Lifetime film that is inspired by 1992’s stalker film “Single White Female.”

Riley added that the break up was “amicable” between the pair. She continued,

“I wish him the best. I don’t have anything horrible or bad to say.”

The pair got engaged in 2019 and Riley shared the news with fans in a now-deleted Instagram post in November 2020. She captioned the post,

“There was a time when I thought I didn’t want or deserve this kind of love. I’m looking at a man who changed my mind. My time by myself, loving on myself, getting comfortable with myself, prepared me for you, and prepared me for this.”

The actress and singer ended the engagement announcement with,

“I am so proud to say, I am the future Mrs. Black. I love you @deseanblack_official and I thank you for your patience, your friendship, and your partnership! What God has joined together, let no man separate. #HappilyEngaged #Engaged #BlackLove.”

Since the break up, Amber Riley says she’s focusing on prioritizing the importance of self-love and self-care.
