Sunny Hostin Of ‘The View’ Gets Into Heated Exchange About Black Republicans: It’s An Oxymoron

The conversation recently got a little spicy over on daytime talk show, The View.

On today’s episode (Friday, May 6th), co-host Sunny Hostin called Black republicans into question while interviewing Black conservative guest, Lindsey Grainger. The topic began by celebrating Karine Jean-Pierre’s historic appointment as the White House’s first Black LGBTQIA+ press secretary. However, things quickly escalated after political analyst Sunny Hostin expressed her opinion that Black republicans are a oxymoron. Interrupting Lindsey Grainger mid sentence, the political broadcaster stated:

“I feel like that’s an oxymoron, a Black Republican.”

In response, Lindsey Grainger, who regularly co-hosts news show Daily Blast Live stated:

“You feel like it’s an oxymoron? Why? Your friend right here is a republican.”

Lindsey was referring to Sunny’s co-host, Ana Navarro, who considers herself a Latina conservative. Sunny continued to drive her point home about minorities in the republican party, turning the attention to her co-host as well stating:

“I don’t understand either of you.”

To which Lindsey rebutted:

“You said you feel like it’s an oxymoron but you’re Catholic and you’re also pro-life. You don’t understand yourself.”

The two continued pressing one another on the issue, which Lindsey eventually attempts to break away from stating they were getting in “personal politics”.  Eventually, Ana brings the conversation back on track, referencing again Karine Jean-Pierre‘s role in the White House.

Sunny has previously clashed with Ana Navarro and Lindsey on the show. While guest hosting on a prior episode, Sunny and Lindsey vehemently disagreed about Democratic views on education and the controversial “critical race theory”.

Likewise, Ana and Sunny previously disputed over Ana’s admiration of the Republican party, with Sunny stating:

“The party that you loved doesn’t exist anymore….It’s the party of insurrectionists, it’s the party of traitors, white supremacists, it’s not the party that you loved. It’s just not.”

To which Ana responded:

“What you don’t understand is that no matter how much you want it to happen, the Republican party is not going to disappear.”

The View is known to have opposing political views represented on the show to spark important conversations around politics in the nation.
