Mike Tyson Limited Series ‘Mike’ Starring Trevante Rhodes Has The Internet Buzzing Following First Trailer Release [WATCH]

Hulu just dropped the first look of Trevante Rhodes’ portrayal of champion boxer Mike Tyson and the clip has the internet going wild!

The Mike trailer begins with Moonlight star Trevante Rhodes fully in character, with Mike Tysons’s signature “warrior” face tattoo and mega ripped physique. Premiering on August 25th, the limited series will seemingly cover major moments of the iconic athlete’s life.

Included in the trailer, is the 1997 match reenactment where the heavyweight infamously bit off the ear of Evander Holyfield. Additionally, the show will address Mike Tyson’s brief marriage to actress Robin Givens. The two were married only a year before they divorced, with Robin accusing Mike of physical abuse.

Social media users seem to be here for Trevante Rhodes in the iconic role. However, some users stated that they’ll be waiting for Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of the athlete, which is reportedly a collab with Mike himself.

The eight-episode Hulu series was condemned by Mike after the network announced the development of the project. In an official statement to his Instagram, the champ boxer wrote:

“Hulu’s announcement to do an unauthorized mini-series of the Tyson story without compensation, although unfortunate, isn’t surprising….This announcement on the heels of social disparities in our country is a prime example of how Hulu’s corporate greed led to this tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of the Tyson life story.”

Subsequently, Mike announced he would be producing his own biopic series starring Jamie Foxx titled Tyson. There is no expected release date for Tyson at this time.
