EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson’s rookie talk show took over the time of Nick Cannon’s canceled talk show. Reports claim her talk series outperformed “Nick Cannon” during the show’s second week, which averaged a 0.4 last year, by 50%. Premiering over a decade ago, Debmar-Mercury’s “Wendy Williams” talk show averaged a 0.8 last year around this time, which indicates, even more, the success of Shepherd’s new talk show.
As previously reported, former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson and actress Sherri Shepherd started their new endeavors on Sept. 12. The singer previously shared:
“The timing is perfect because I’ve been in this industry 20 years acting and singing. At this point, I simply want to be me, the person. And I want to get to know everybody’s person and their stories. I’m ready to talk.”
Sherri also discussed the meaning behind her show, and what her viewers can expect by tuning in. The 55-year-old shared:
“Let’s be clear, I’m not a mean person at all!”
She added:
“I’m all about positive energy. I’m about joy. I’m about kindness and laughter. Anyone that knows me will tell you just that.”
