Kanye West – Sketcher’s Issues Statement Following Rapper’s ‘Uninvited’ Visit To Their HQ, Says Company ‘Is Not Considering & Has No Intentions Of Working w/ West’

Controversial rap star Kanye West’s corporate admirers continue to shrink.

Despite the Yeezy owner once holding several highly lucrative fashion partnerships, it seems his influence is no longer holding weight. Kanye West, who now goes by the name Ye, reportedly took an impromptu visit to a Sketcher’s office in L.A. recently where he was promptly turned away. The apparel company subsequently issued a statement, making it perfectly clear that his visit was “uninvited” and seemingly unwelcome.

Though unconfirmed, it’s speculated that West went to Sketcher’s to seek a new deal to continue the production of his popular Yeezy shoe line. As previously reported, the “Bound 2” artist lost his contract with Adidas, who previously produced the sneakers, in the wake of his recent controversial comments about Jewish media that many have labeled antisemitic.

According to reports, Ye showed up at Skechers office on Wednesday (October 26th) unannounced. Reports also note that the company is owned and operated by a Jewish family, though it’s likely West was aware of this fact prior to his approach.

After the story began making headlines the clothing company quickly issued a statement, clarifying that they had no planned meeting with the musician. Via message posted on their website, the company wrote:

“Kanye West – also referred to as Ye – arrived unannounced and without invitation at one of Skechers’ corporate offices in Los Angeles. Considering Ye was engaged in unauthorized filming, two Skechers executives escorted him and his party from the building after a brief conversation. Skechers is not considering and has no intention of working with West. We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech. The Company would like to again stress that West showed up unannounced and uninvited to Skechers corporate offices.”

Sketchers’ move to distance themselves from the rapper follows a recent trend of other big named companies doing so. Adidas, GAP, Vogue, Def Jam, and Balenciaga – just to name a few – all recently issued statements confirming they were cutting ties with West. The Grammy-winning artist made his return to Instagram following the Skechers debacle, claiming he lost “$2 billion in one day”. According to Forbes, West lost his billionaire status following the Adidas’ termination.
