Tyler Perry Inks Four-Picture Film Deal w/ Amazon Studios
Looks like Tyler Perry is taking his talents to Amazon!
According to reports, Amazon Studios announced on Monday (November 28) that it has set a four-picture film deal with media mogul Tyler Perry.

The Atlanta-based filmmaker will write, direct, and produce four features that will be released on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said,
“Tyler Perry is undeniably one of the most prolific creators of our time. He is a true multihyphenate who has defined his own incredible brand of storytelling and inspired people all over the world with his series and films.”
Jennifer Salke added,
“We are excited to collaborate with Tyler and his teams to bring even more of his fantastic signature films to our global audiences.”
Tyler Perry, 53, spoke about the exciting deal and said,
“Jennifer Salke and the entire team have welcomed me with open arms, and I’m looking forward to continuing telling unique stories and bringing my next projects to the global audiences that they reach.”

Most recently, Perry shared that he’s open to doing a third part for his hit project “Why Did I Get Married,” but he would want Janet Jackson and Jill Scott to sign onto the pending film first. He said,
“If Janet [Jackson] and Jill Scott say ‘yes,’ there may be a Why Did I Get Married Again?”
Perry added,
“So, waiting for them to say it. Waiting for the word.”

“Why Did I Get Married” is a comedy-drama film that was released in 2007. The plot centers around a winter retirement between four couples, who have been best friends since college. The film highlights the different marital struggles the couples are dealing with; such as infidelity, finances, losing a child, and more.
The movie stars Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Malik Yoba, Sharon Leal, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Richard T. Jones, Denise Boutte, and Keesha Sharp. The second installment – “Why Did I Get Married Too?” – was released three years later in 2010.
