Cardi B Opens Up About What’s Delaying Her Sophomore Album + Reveals That Making Music Has Become ‘A Job’ That Gives Her ‘Anxiety’

Cardi B is getting candid about why she has yet to release a sophomore album.

On Tuesday (Dec. 6) Cardi B took to Instagram Live to talk to her followers about her highly anticipated sophomore album and why it’s taking so long to be released.

“When it comes to the music, I just be feeling like I don’t be liking anything. I feel like I got so many songs, I just don’t like nothing. Like nothing is good enough. I got so much f**king money saved up, I be like, ‘Yeah, whatever the f*ck.'”

The “Up” rapper then expressed that her recent $1 million show in Miami reminded her that she loves to perform. However, the constant criticism from fans causes her to be anxious about her music.

“Every time I perform, something wakes up in me and I remember why I do this. Because I love this. I love to perform.”

She continued,

“I used to love to make music. But now, making music to me has become a job that gives me anxiety. Everybody just critique everything that I do that it’s just like sometimes you just don’t want to do something that makes you feel–that gives you that much anxiety. I just be freezing myself.”

It’s been over four years since Cardi B released her Grammy-winning debut album Invasion of Privacy. The album debuted atop the US Billboard 200 and has been certified triple platinum. The album produced 5 hit singles, “Bodak Yellow,” “Bartier Cardi” featuring 21 Savage, “Be Careful,” “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, and “Ring” featuring Kehlani.

Since then, she’s put out hit singles including “W.A.P” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, “Up,” and “Hot Sh*t” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk, but has yet to release her second album.
