SZA Jokes That Ex Boyfriend Drake Has “A Regina George Quality About Him”, But Adds “I Think Highly Of Him”

R&B songstress SZA was shook by SNL’s recent spot on skit about her former boo Drake.

The “Good Days” singer performed on the comedy show earlier this month (December 3rd), while actress Keke Palmer hosted.

During the episode, Palmer and other regular SNL comedians performed a skit announcing the launch of “United Tingz of Aubrey,” a class-action lawsuit of the Canadian singer’s exes. The skit called on all former lovers of Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, 36, to come together. Specifically, if they were seduced into momentary flings or have been used as inspiration in his music.

SZA, born Solána Imani Rowe, 33, ironically fit in all of those categories. Back in 2020, the grammy winning artist confirmed she previously dated the “Certified Lover Boy” after he outed their affair in a song. Following the SNL performance, SZA was asked about the skit where she stated:

“In a strange way, I was like, ‘Did they know?’…But they didn’t ask me to be in it. Nobody said anything,”

The musician continued, laughing and comparing her famous ex to “Mean Girl’s” character Regina George. She stated:

“I feel like Drake has a Regina George quality to him where it’s just kind of like, ‘Have you or anyone you know been personally victimized?’ He’s like a cool kid, you know. When you’re the popular kid in school, it’s entertaining. It’s entertaining, but you sometimes are taking losses in the midst of that entertainment.”

If you have unfortunately never seen “Mean Girls” Regina George can basically be described as a very nasty version of a Kardashian. The girl everyone wants to date, be, basically always radiating main character energy. However, her very strong personality and determination to have things her way always causes heartache for many around her along the way.

Following Drake outing their past romance in the 2020 song “Mr. Right Now” with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, SZA stated:

“We’re cool. And we’ve always been cool…It’s never been weird…Anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive. He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him…He’s King Drake.”

Even after the SNL skit it seems like there’s still nothing but love between the two overall. During the recent interview SZA continued:

“The honesty, I respect that….I definitely laughed real hard…I cackled.”

SZA’s long awaited sophomore album “SOS” also dropped the same day of the interview and is now streaming on all platforms.
