Kanye West To Be Evicted From L.A. Office, Building Owner Claims Rapper Owes Over $63,000 In Back Rent

At this point, Kanye West might have more than just 99 problems.

According to reports, the owner of Kanye West’s Yeezy offices in Los Angeles filed to evict the rapper due to failed payments on the rent. The property holds a mix of production facilities for the rapper’s Yeezy-brand clothing line, a recording studio, and design spaces.

A company named ‘CT Calabasas’ claims the ‘Yeezy Apparel’ company owes at least two months of rent. The legal case is known as an “unlawful detainer” of their property, and the owner wants Kanye West out in three days unless the back rent of $63,254 is paid in full.

The filing states that the company signed a deal with Yeezy in 2015 when it was still called ‘West Brands Fashion.’ However, in 2016 they say Yeezy Apparel merged with the 45-year-old’s other company “thereby succeeding West Brand’s interest in the lease.” Back then, West, who goes by the pseudonym Ye, agreed to pay $31,477.40 a month for the workspace, which occupies over 15,000 square feet. The eviction notice reads:

“Within three days after service of this notice on you, you must pay the amount of said rent in full or quit said premises and deliver up possession of the same to the authorized agent for your landlord.”

It adds:

“If you fail to pay or quit, legal proceedings will be instituted against you for possession of the premises, forfeiture of the agreement, and for monetary damages as may be allowed by law. You are further notified that by this Notice the Landlord elects to and does hereby declare a forfeiture of said Lease if said rent is not paid in full within three (3) days.”

This isn’t the only debt the father of four must clear up. As previously reported, a series of state tax lien notices show that Yeezy owes California over $600,000 in foregone taxes. In July of 2021, three separate notice letters were allegedly sent to the entrepreneur, as well as in February and in September of this year.
