50 Cent Says Jay-Z Still Holds ‘Some Energy’ Towards Him As He Stands By Claims The Roc Nation Founder Attempted To Ban Him From 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Performance
50 Cent believes Jay-Z intentionally tried to leave him out of last year’s Super Bowl Halftime performance.
In a recent interview with media personality Big Boy, rapper 50 Cent reflected on almost being left out of the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime show because he isn’t Jay-Z’s “cup of tea.” If you weren’t aware, Jay-Z serves as the NFL’s Live Music & Entertainment strategist. While speaking of their drama, 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson III, explained:
“I got the call before the [Super Bowl Pepsi] ad went out. I wasn’t in the ad because of, Jay-Z and them was putting it together. So I think they still harbor some energy towards me.”

Admitting that he doesn’t believe the Roc Nation founder, born Shawn Carter, purposely left him out of the printed advertisement for the performance, he said:
“No, no. They was saying the NFL had some issues with me that I don’t know what those issues are.”
However, while reflecting on a previous conversation Jay-Z allegedly had with N.O.R.E, 50 shared that it wasn’t until Eminem gave the NFL an ultimatum that he was allowed to officially join the performance.
“With N.O.R.E, he had communication, he said ‘yeah, I talked to the big homie, he was telling me the white boy [Eminem] wouldn’t do it without 50.’ Right? And that’s when I start saying crazy stuff, I look and I go ‘oh, now that’s your big homie.’”
He added:
“He images himself after a gay painter. Big homie wanna look like a gay painter.”

As previously reported, in a series of posts shared to Instagram, 50 questioned why Eminem — who previously signed him to his label Shady Records — had to vouch for him so he could perform at the Super Bowl. He also compared HOV to the late 80’s painter Jean-Michel Basquiat, who was rumored to be gay. Big Boy was seemingly confused by 50’s remarks so he elaborated:
“We’re talking about Basquiat. He wants to look like a gay painter. So now look, what I’m saying to you is, look, you start looking at, that’s not mine, that’s [them] harpering. When you look at, [Eminem] is looking at the entire legacy. The whole thing with [Eminem,] Dre, myself. I’m the shady aftermath. You see what I’m saying? There’s so much G-Unit records, they forget that I’m [Eminem] and Dre’s artist.”
When asked if he’d ever have a sit down with Jay-Z to work things out, the “Power” creator said:
“We don’t need to talk about nothin’.”
