‘Family Matters’ Actor Darius McCrary Granted 4-Year Restraining Order Against Ex-Fiancée, Claims She Turned Their ‘Home Into A Drug Den’
Actor Darius McCrary has been granted a 4-year restraining order against his ex-fiancée who was once married to the late singer Rick James.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge recently granted Darius’ plea to extend his temporary restraining order against his ex, Tanya Hijazi.
The ‘Family Matters’ star testified in court about the alleged abuse he suffered while with Tanya. As a result, the judge ordered Tanya to stay 100 yards away from Darius McCrary and prohibited her from communicating with him. Darius now has the right to record Tanya’s phone calls if she were to reach out to him.
Darius proposed to Tanya in November 2021 and their relationship has been rocky ever since. Back in December, Darius filed his petition for a restraining order. The 46-year-old claimed that he was “emotionally traumatized and couldn’t focus on work” due to the alleged abuse by Tanya. This was the actor’s second restraining order attempt, as he asked the court for a protective order against his ex last August after she allegedly broke his car window and tried to harm him with a lead pipe.
According to court documents, the ‘90s sitcom actor’s petition claimed that his ex threatened to steal his dog. It also alleged that she’d taken over his home, which he described as a “drug den” under her watch.
He said,
“She turned our then home into a drug den, she agreed to leave the country to attend rehab.”
He added:
“She has returned and is now calling and sending threats. She has taken my possessions and placed them in storage and refuses to return them. She continues to be mentally abusive.”
He also said Tanya threatened to:
“have her friends come and take my dog and said she will leak stories [to the media] if I do not pay her. She has keys to my vehicle. I am afraid she will cause further damage. She continues to call me “a punk b—- f—- and is slandering my name in several professional circles of the entertainment industry.”
McCrary added that the situation had him nervous that he would “end up like Phil Hartman,” a famous comedian who was fatally shot by his wife, Brynn Omdahl, in a murder-suicide that occurred in 1998.
