Young Thug’s Legal Team Submits 4th Bond Attempt In YSL RICO Trial, Citing Rapper’s Declining Health As A Serious Concern

Jailed rapper Young Thug is once again pushing for his release.

According to reports, the Atlanta native’s lawyers have submitted another motion for bond, hoping to have the musician freed after serving nearly a year behind bars.

As we previously reported, Young Thug, real name Jeffrey Williams, 31, as well as fellow rap star Gunna and more than 20 other associates were indicted last year on RICO charges. The group is accused of carrying out a number of gang related crimes under the group YSL founded by the “Best Friend” artist. YSL, however, claims to be nothing more than a record label.

While Gunna, real name Sergio Kitchens, 29, was allowed to bond out late last year after entering a guilty plea, Thug remains incarcerated. He’s accused of allegedly being the ring leader in the gang activity and the judge presiding over the case reportedly feels his release will be a flight risk. Up until now, the rap star’s legal team has reportedly submitted three attempts to get bond which have all been denied.

Reportedly, Thug’s lawyers argue that the musician isn’t a flight risk, but his health is at risk if he remains in prison. Reportedly, the official documents for Thug’s bond appeal read:

“Mr. Williams is not a risk to commit a crime and he’s not a risk to flee the jurisdiction and that’s what bond is about,”

It’s also noted that Thug’s lawyers have expressed growing concerns about the way long court sessions are affecting his health. Reportedly, the musician has been suffering from fatigue and his attorney’s feel he may not have the mental capacity to withstand much more court.

The court judge previously stated that he would consider bond for Thug if his lawyer’s could undoubtedly show he wouldn’t be a flight risk. No decision about the bond has been made the time this post was written.
