NBA Player Dillon Brooks Trends As Social Media Reacts To News The Memphis Grizzlies Will Not Re-sign Him “Under Any Circumstance”
Tough break for Dillon Brooks.
According to reports, the NBA hooper will be looking for a new basketball home as his current team, the Memphis Grizzlies, has made it clear they have no intentions on having him return.

Reportedly, the decision not to extend Dillon Brooks contract came to a resounding clarity following a luck luster playoff performance. The 27-year-old seemingly struggled during the 1st round series against the L.A. Lakers, but made headlines for some less than respectful remarks about rival Lebron James. During the series, the athletes faced each other several times and at one point during interviews, Brooks reportedly referred to the 4 time NBA champion as “old”, stating:
“I don’t care. He’s old…I poke bears. I don’t respect no one till they come and give me 40.”
In the following game, Brooks was reportedly ejected after hitting James in his groin. The Grizzlies were ultimately bounced out of the series with a 2 – 4 record. Additionally, its reported the front office was unhappy with the way Brooks opted not to attend several required media sessions. His absence reportedly resulted in $25,000 worth of fines from the NBA.

While the world is just now finding out about the split, the report notes that Brooks knew of his fate with the team days ago. Reportedly, the athlete and franchise mutually decided to part ways, though the Grizzlies noted he would “not be brought back under any circumstances”. Brooks was reportedly in his final year of a $35 million contract with the Grizzlies who he has been with since the start of his career.
Upon learning the news, social media users were quick to flood the internet with reactions. Some users thanked Brooks for his contributions to the team over the years, while others seem not too sad to see him go.
