Ryan Seacrest Set To Host ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ Replacing Pat Sajak After 40 Years

It looks like Ryan Seacrest is adding yet another job to his roster.

According to reports, Ryan Seacrest is set to be the new host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ following Pat Sajak’s retirement. Seacrest will take over as the host at the beginning of the 2024-25 season.

Seacrest said in a statement:

“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them. One of my first jobs was hosting a little game show called Click for Merv Griffin 25 years ago so, this is truly a full circle moment for me and I’m grateful to Sony for the opportunity. I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”

Ravi Ahuja, chairman of global television studios at Sony Pictures had this to say about Seacrest:

“We are ecstatic to have Ryan as the next host of Wheel of Fortune. Ryan loves Wheel as much as we do and is the perfect person to continue the show’s four-decade success into the future.”

Earlier this month, Pat Sajak announced his retirement from the syndicated game show after 40 years of being the host.

He tweeted,

“The time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

Sajak has hosted “Wheel of Fortune” since 1981, while Vanna White,  joined the show a year later as the iconic letter-turner. Sajak and White also host ABC’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, whose fourth season will premiere in the fall. According to Sony Pictures Television, Sajak will continue as a consultant on the show for three years following his final season.

Earlier this year, Ryan Seacrest ended his 6- year- run as co-host of the daytime talk show Live With Kelly and Ryan

Following his departure, he released a statement that said,

“Working alongside Kelly [Ripa] over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career. She has been an amazing partner, friend, and confidant, and although we will always be a part of each other’s lives, I will miss our mornings together.”

Seacrest has also hosted and produced a slew of TV and radio programs including: “American Idol,” “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” and ABC’s annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special.
