YK Osiris Makes Emotional Debut As Indie Artist After Reportedly Being Dropped By Def Jam
Rapper YK Osiris has dropped his first song since parting ways with Def Jam back in December.
According to reports, YK Osiris and Def Jam ended their business relationship after the record label dropped the “Worth It” singer from his contract last year. Sources close to the situation say that both parties mutually agreed the relationship ran its course and there are no hard feelings between them.

The 24-year-old entertainer signed with Def Jam in April 2018 and went on to release “The Golden Child” — his first studio album — the following year. During his time with the label, YK Osiris, born Osiris Jahkail Williams, reportedly earned over a million dollars.
Yesterday (July 11), YK took to Instagram to drop a snippet of his new song “Dear Fans,” which appears to acknowledge his fanbase. In the posted clip, an emotional YK can be seen singing the new tune as he seemingly fights back tears. In honor of his first release as an independent artist, he captioned the post,
“THANK U GOD. MY FIRST INDEPENDENT RECORD DROPPED , I COULDN’T ASK FOR NUN ELSE

YK’s new music release follows his viral drama with rapper Sukihana, 31.

Sukihana
As previously reported, YK was filmed trying to forcibly kiss Sukihana at a basketball event in Atlanta last month. In the footage, Sukihana, real name Destiny Henderson, was sitting at the host table when YK approached from behind her and began to rub her shoulders. He then turned Sukihana’s face towards him and leaned in for a kiss. Despite her seemingly saying “no” and turning her face away, YK then attempted to go in for another kiss.
Since the incident, many fans and celebrities were left uncomfortable with YK’s actions. Following the unwarranted act, he issued a public apology to Sukihana for physically trying to get her to kiss him. In a post shared to his Instagram account, he wrote,
“In an attempt to be playful, I misread the moment and violated Sukihana’s boundaries. I understand the importance of consent and I am embarrassed by my behavior. I take full responsibility and have made multiple attempts to apologize.”
YK added,
“I have the utmost admiration for Sukihana and it was never my intention to disrespect her.”
