NFL Star Deshaun Watson Speaks Out Following Sexual Conduct Suspension Centered Around Assault Allegations From 25 Different Women: ‘The Whole Situation Changed Me’

NFL player Deshaun Watson is reflecting on his suspension after he was accused of alleged sexual misconduct and assault by 25 different women.

As you may recall, in 2021 Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was hit with numerous lawsuits from multiple women claiming he sexually assaulted them and committed other inappropriate acts during massage therapy sessions. According to the allegations, the 27-year-old athlete masturbated in front of the alleged victims, ejaculated on them, and positioned himself so the women would touch his groin area. Reports claim 66 massage therapists’ appointments were made by Deshaun Watson during a 17-month period.

Despite the allegations, Watson has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. However, after his alleged sexual misconduct made its rounds through the media, he was ultimately suspended 11 games and fined $5 million by the National Football League (NFL).

Recently, the professional athlete addressed his time spent away from the league and said the entire situation made him grow as a person. Watson expressed,

“The whole situation changed me. In a situation where I just had to lock in on myself, channel and really know who I’m surrounding myself with and just really who’s going to be there and support me even when I’m at my lowest point and the last few years were definitely my lowest point in my life.”

He added,

“But that’s part of life. I just grow from it, I learn from it. I continue to move forward and push forward and continue to show my real character, my real personality and who I am.”

The quarterback continued and explained how the entire ordeal “overshadowed” his football story.

“Things that people don’t really get to hear about. Especially last year, it’s been the media directing and narrating something else… [my story] has been kind of overshadowed.”

Watson noted,

“So having an opportunity to go into the season with a full offseason, locked in, focused, it definitely feels good, and I want to continue to keep channeling and cherishing all that energy and positive energy that’s been spread around this organization.”

Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns in March of last year and subsequently signed a five-year, $230 million guaranteed contract, which was reportedly the largest guaranteed number in NFL history.
