Beyoncé Pays $100k To Extend D.C. Metro Train Operating Hours Following Rain-Delayed ‘Renaissance’ Concert
It looks like Beyoncé dished out some big bucks to help her fans out.
On Sunday (August 6), Beyoncé performed at the FedEx Field stadium in the D.C. area where she was met with a storm that caused a major delay for her “Renaissance World Tour” show.
According to reports, concertgoers waited nearly two hours for the show to kick off after a shelter-in-place order was implemented due to the storm. The Twitter account for FedEx Field wrote:
“Due to lightning in the area, we are currently under a shelter in place order. Fans outside of gates and in the parking lots are asked to return to their cars. All fans inside of the stadium are asked to shelter in place under covered concourse areas and ramps until further notice.”

This delay caused the concert to officially end after the Metro train services were scheduled to close for the night. However, Beyoncé came to the rescue and paid $100,000 to make sure the Metro continued running for an additional hour. The hefty bill covered the cost for all 98 stations to remain open for people to be able to travel home from the venue.

Beyoncé is known for being generous and giving back to fans, especially during her “Renaissance World Tour.” The “Cuff It” singer previously revealed she plans to donate $1 million in scholarships to various colleges along her “Renaissance” tour route.
The entertainer’s BeyGood Foundation recently gave $100,000 in scholarship funding for 10 lucky students at the Detroit School for Digital Technology as part of her Renaissance Scholars program.
Beyoncé founded BeyGood in 2013 during her “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.” Since then, the organization has donated to educational efforts, disaster relief, housing security funding, mental health resources, and career development in the US and abroad.
