Jada Pinkett-Smith Updates Fans On Her Hair Growth Journey Amid Alopecia Diagnosis
Jada Pinkett-Smith is giving her fans a closer look at her hair growth amid her battle with alopecia.
On Monday (Aug. 7) actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, 51, took to Instagram to share with her millions of followers that her hair is trying to “make a comeback.” If you recall, the Emmy Award winner was diagnosed with alopecia in 2018, which is an autoimmune disorder.

In the post, she uploaded two selfies of her hair growth. In the first photo, Jada Pinkett-Smith is seen showing off a bald head, however, in the second photo, she’s rocking a short bleached-blonde pixie cut. While revealing that her hair has in fact grown, she captioned the post,
“This here hair is act’n like it’s try’n a make a come back [sic]. Still have some trouble spots but — we’ll see.
Slide 1: Past.
Slide 2: Present.”

Although the “Red Table Talk” host has been open about her alopecia in the past, her condition was highlighted at the 2022 Oscars ceremony after host Chris Rock made a controversial joke surrounding her bald head.
As you may recall, last March during the Academy Awards, Will Smith, 54, walked onstage and slapped Chris Rock, 58, after the comedian made a joke comparing his wife, Pinkett-Smith, to G.I. Jane. Following the incident, Will Smith sat back down in the audience and said,
“Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth.”
Will Smith was ultimately banned from participating in the awards ceremony for 10 years. The entertainer made several public apologies to the Academy, colleagues, and Chris Rock for the regretful moment.
