Justin Bieber Reportedly Reluctant To Join Usher As Guest For Super Bowl Halftime Show, Singer Said To Be Focusing On Health After Recent Facial Paralysis
While an Usher x Justin Bieber reunion would be great for old-time’s sake, it doesn’t look like it will happen at 2024’s Super Bowl Halftime Show!
If you didn’t know, last month, it was announced that R&B legend Usher would be the NFL’s key performer at the highly-anticipated event next year.
Reportedly, Usher asked his ex-mentee, fellow singer Justin Bieber, to join him on the headlining stage, but… to no avail.
According to reports, pending guest Justin Bieber is said to be focused on his well-being and has hopes of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show (himself) sometime in the future instead.
An insider revealed,
“[Usher] has asked some of his friends who are artists to help him out and join him on stage, and he has thrown a few ideas towards Justin [Bieber].”
With his ninth studio album, “Coming Home,” set to be released on the same day as the Super Bowl LVIII (Feb. 11), Usher has allegedly pulled out all the stops to make the forthcoming performance one to remember.
However, sources close to the music pair alleged that the “Good Good” crooner’s attempts to “convince” Bieber to pop out for the Apple Music-presented segment haven’t been successful.
They added:
“Justin is flattered that one of his mentors, Usher, wants him to be a part of the Super Bowl, but he is leaning towards letting Usher do his thing, and Justin would rather have the opportunity to do the Super Bowl on his own in the future if he were to be asked.”
The individual furthered,
“That is the more sought-after option for Justin when it has anything to do with performing at the event.”
Additionally, they concluded by expanding on Bieber’s priority being his health after battling Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a viral condition that produces temporary paralysis of the facial nerves.
As previously reported, the “Yummy” phenomenon took to his social media last June to unveil the unfortunate diagnosis, which later prompted the total suspension of his then-Justice World Tour.
Bieber said in a video,
“There is full paralysis on this side of my face. So, for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically obviously not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious… as you can see.”
Although the 29-year-old is (seemingly) doing better these days, obviously, not enough to grace the Super Bowl set. Unless… we’re in for a big surprise?
While a live linkup between Bieber and Usher can’t be guaranteed, it’s known that the dynamic duo still has a great friendship behind the booth.
Having come onto the scene in 2008, the “U Got It Bad” icon has famously been influential in Bieber’s over-a-decade-long run in the industry.
From Usher’s career guidance to a young Bieber to record-breaking collaborations, the creative twosome’s collective contribution will forever go down in the history of the 2010s!
