Andy Cohen Speaks Out After Kandi Burruss Announces Her Departure From ‘RHOA’: ‘What A Run!’
It’s officially the end of an era.
Last night (Feb. 4) during a red-carpet interview for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, Kandi Burruss shocked many by announcing she’s decided not to return to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” The multi-talented celeb has been a part of the Bravo reality series since 2009, making her the longest-running housewife in not just the Atlanta branch but out of all the installments of the popular franchise. This morning, (Feb. 5) Andy Cohen, host and executive producer of “The Real Housewives” empire, shared a short but heartfelt message about Kandi Burruss’ departure to his Instagram. The 55-year-old posted multiple images of Kandi over the years since joining “RHOA” and captioned the upload,
“What can I say about @kandi !? One of the greats! A superstar! What a run! #Worldwide #RHOA”

A viewer then called Andy Cohen out for the length of the message, writing,
“Ummm I need a little more noise for your longest running Housewife AC…”

He soon replied, letting them know that he plans on chatting with Kandi more during his radio show today.
“about to talk about her on the radio and I have a lot to say!”

In November we exclusively reported that there would be a major cast shake-up ahead of season 16. Sources shared with us that producers were taking their time in deciding which ladies would be invited back. Unfortunately, it looks like Kandi was done waiting around for an answer. During her Grammy Awards interview, she shared,
“I’m not keeping up. I already said it, so I’ll tell you. I decided I’m not coming back this year. It’s been 14 seasons, and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long, but during that time I had started working on a lot of other things, and I got some nice big projects coming soon, so I’m super excited about those things.”

She continued,
“But it’s not just that, It’s just like, after you really have time to think, and a friend of mine was like, ‘Why do you keep doing it?’ And I was like, ‘Well, I think because I’ve just been doing it for so long, it feels weird to think not to do it?’ So I was just like, ‘You know what? I’m going to take a break, I’m going to take a moment… I’m not coming back this year.’”
Kandi Burruss first opened the doors of her life for “RHOA” fans for season two. She’s also had a few spin-offs including “The Kandi Factory” (2013), “Kandi’s Ski Trip” (2015), and “Kandi & The Gang” (2022-present). As you may already know, prior to joining the reality series, Kandi was already a household name thanks to her successful singing and music-writing career.
