Update: Doja Cat’s Mother Granted Permanent Restraining Order Against Son After Claiming He ‘Knocked Out’ Rapper’s Teeth

Update: (Feb. 7, 2024): the temporary restraining order granted to Doja Cat’s mother has officially been made permanent.

Last month Deborah Sawyer – mother of rapper/singer Doja Cat — was granted a temporary restraining order against her son Raman Dlamini after claiming he had been abusive toward her and the “Say So” artist for years.

In addition to detailing the harm she allegedly faced from the 30-year-old, Deborah claimed that Doja Cat “has experienced physical harm such as teeth being knocked out and bruises and lacerations” from her brother.

According to a new report from RadarOnline, during the latest court hearing, which Raman skipped out on, Deborah was granted a permanent restraining order. Reportedly, the judge said the new order expires on January 31, 2029.

No word just yet on whether Doja Cat has taken heed of the judge’s previous instructions to file her own petition for a TRO. As previously reported, her mother wasn’t allowed to do so on the celeb’s behalf.

Original Story: (Jan. 30, 2024): Deborah Sawyer – the mother of famed rapper Doja Cat – is doing what’s needed to protect herself.

Doja Cat and her family have been in the news lately due to serious abuse allegations against the celeb’s brother, Raman Dlamini, 30. Reportedly, Deborah accused her son of being abusive towards not just her but Doja Cat, 28, as well. The judge granted Deborah a temporary restraining order against Raman but did not extend that same order to Doja Cat, real name Amala Dlamini, as the rapper is legally required to file her own request for protection.

According to a report from RadarOnline, after a few attempts to track him down, Raman was finally served with the legal documents demanding he stay away from his 62-year-old mother. Reportedly, Raman was given the order by a deputy sheriff on January 23 at his Studio City, CA, apartment at 7:30 a.m.

Authorities tried to serve Raman two times before – once on January 15 at 6:45 a.m. and again on January 16 at 11:10 a.m. – but legal documents note that there was “no answer at [the] door” during both attempts.

Deborah alleged in her petition for the TRO that Doja Cat “has experienced physical harm such as teeth being knocked out and bruises and lacerations” from her brother.

She also claimed,

“Raman has verbally assaulted her in a very degrading and demeaning [manner]. Raman has made her feel unsafe and traumatized.”

Deborah added that Raman abused her “3 to 10 times recently” and “several times in the past.” She was previously granted a restraining order against her son in 2017.
